10-12 September 2021: The EHRA Team climbed the highest mountain in Namibia and raised N$500,000 for EHRA’s conservation work!

COVID 19 has meant that EHRA’s funding base disappeared overnight. Although we have some volunteers which not only bring essential manpower but also funding, we are not anywhere near to our previous capacity, which means we are struggling to fulfil our commitments to the communities and elephants.

The elephants have headed back to the commercial farms, which is a dangerous situation and where we lost 3 breeding age females and one young male in 2020. EHRA needs to constantly monitor these herds and provide solutions to the conflict.

Therefore to financially keep going the team decided to take ACTION and challenge themselves.

If you would like to donate to support our efforts please do so here:

The Brandberg stands at 2574 metres and the ascent took place over 3 days. It is a very tough climb!

  • We had to carry all our water and food (6 litres per person per day!)

  • We slept in the open on the mountain for 3 nights

  • There are wild animals (leopards!)

Most of the team have never climbed a mountain before! This was a team effort and we supported each other to make it up and down in one piece!

Thank you from the EHRA team, the elephants and the people who live side by side with these amazing animals.
